10 weeks pregnant

Week 10

It’s not just your baby that’s growing. Did you know that your uterus is now the size of a large grapefruit?

Some women suffer from anaemia during pregnancy, so including iron rich foods is key to both your health and your baby’s development. Luckily, there are plenty of readily-available iron sources such as eggs, meat and leafy greens.

Read more about your baby and your diet at 10 weeks.

Week 10

At roughly 3cm long, your baby’s brain is developing faster than any other part of their body, making their head look very large in relation to the rest of their small body. Toes are separating, arms can bend at the elbow and their spine is visible through their skin. They’re getting more active each day and can now sleep, wake up and exercise their muscles. Although you might not yet be showing on the outside, inside your uterus has doubled in size to that of a large grapefruit.

Pregnancy week 10

Iron is one of the key nutrients in a healthy pregnancy diet. It's important for carrying extra oxygen around in your red blood cells and it’s needed by your baby’s developing brain. Low iron levels can cause anaemia, which will leave you feeling tired, washed-out and generally unwell.

Try to include iron-rich foods in your diet by eating red meat, fish, eggs, dried fruit, fortified breakfast cereals, wholegrain breads and green leafy vegetables. These foods all contain a wide range of important nutrients in addition to iron. Iron is best absorbed by your body if you eat a vitamin C-rich food at the same time. Try a glass of orange juice with your breakfast cereal or fresh fruit as a starter to your main course. If your iron levels become low, your midwife may recommend an iron supplement. Supplements should only be taken if advised by your doctor or midwife, as not all supplements are safe for pregnancy.

Am suffering symptoms of anaemia at 10 weeks pregnant, feeling shattered by 2pm, tired, looking rubbish and generally washed out. Even sleeping up to 13 hoursa night and feeling no better for it! Already had my dating scan and blood tests and everything is fine; so maybe these are justs pregnancy symptoms. Though I really feel awful! Ive heard things pick up after 12 weeks. Heres hoping. Am currently 10+3.

I have been suffering from hyperemesis since about 5 weeks but seems to be easing a little this week. Still can't eat or drink properly but had a scan yesterday and baby is fine - just me who has lost over 2 stone and can bearly make it from the bedroom to the sofa. Keep trying to be positive as at least baby okay and I'm not back in hospital yet......

im also ten weeks today and like the rest of you above ive had a rough time of it with constant nausea tiredness and sore boobs and now a lovely cold thrown in to boot....oh yeah musnt forget the mood swings to!!...its not my first baby and its been over 10years since i was pregnant(im 38)and i think my age and the fact im morbidly obese has added to my problems and made whats meant to be normal amplified and yep i find it hard to believe i am pregnant because it wasnt planned i was on the pill and being big i thought i couldnt get pregnant anyway so yep it was hell of a shock for me and my partner and we are struggling a bit to get our heads round it but i think when we go for the scan in 2weeks it will yes become real and make us accept and become excited about being parents again(he has a daughter from previous relationship)and as for all the crappiness i feel like i know it will be going soon and boy cant i wait!!!!!lol

Hello all you mothers-to-be, my names Holly and I feel the same as many of you who have posted on here. I get terrible sickness, I even went sick on a bus! embarrassing. But luckily the past few days it's died down a lot. I've been nothing but tired and hungry, I feel I need to go back to bed after only being up a few hours, my back is aching and it's even worse getting up and down for food all the time. This is my first child and I'm only 19 so I'm very nervous about how my baby is getting on. Like most of you, I won't believe I'm really pregnant until I see that first scan! Unfortunately that won't be for another 5 weeks because I'd already booked a holiday before I got pregnant. Hopefully I can enjoy my holiday without worrying or too much tiredness! Good luck to you all, I hope you all have very beautiful healthy children!

Readingsveral of these posts is like reading my diary :) I'm on my 3rd pregnancy. I haven't had any sickness but I am exhausted and keep falling asleep everywhere. I'm a full time teacher with 2 little boys so I'm well behind in my work and my house is a tip. I didn't believe I was pregnant (despite the test) until I had my scan this week. The baby was wriggling everywhere. I'm 10 weeks.
I was really ill for the first few months with the other two but with this one I'm just tired and can't eat!
I keep bursting into tears all the time. I walked into my mum's yesterday and my sisters were watching the end of Ghost and I was inconsolable! I need to get a grip I think. Good luck everyone. Hope we're all a bit more lively in the next trimester.

Hi all,
I'm 29, boyfriend of 5 years is 26. It's my first pregnancy and I'll be 10 weeks on Wednesday (I think that means I'm 9+5 today?). I've been lucky to have had no sickness, but I have had constant hunger! I've put on 5lbs already, jeans are now a bit tight! Funny, but like another Mum-to-be said above, until I see the scan, I won't believe I'm pregnant, in fact, I might pop and get another test on the way home from work tonight!
I have bad asthma and have had to stop taking my usual mix of steriod meds, which has made me really congested and wheezy but apart from that, all seems well. Oh, I am super-tired too. Asleep on the sofa by 9pm most evenings. Boyfriend seems to be in denial about the whole thing, thinks I'm pulling his leg! He also will need to see the scan to believe it is really happening. We decided to stop using protection in January and by March, I was pregnant. Much faster than we'd both imagined. Question; I've had a couple of very angry episodes in the last week or so, not at all like me. Is this normal? The anger was verging on total fury...
I'm hoping to find some lovely people to chat with on here, share stories and support each other through this roller-coaster!

Hi. This is my first post and therefore, first baby. Fiance and I are both so so so excited! We had an early scan at 9+5 weeks following a scare but all appeared fine and healthy and we could see the baby's heart beating! Really can't wait for next scan on 25th October to check all is well and see Bumble again. Despite feeling pretty groggy all the time, I am enjoying every day of pregnancy becuase it means we are one day closer to meeting our new addition. To all those ladies feeling the strain of early pregnancy, I feel it but it is going to be so so worth it!! x

Hi I'm 10 weeks and 2 days pregnant and loving every minute. I do feel sick in the mornings but luckily havent been sick as yet. Having to make sure I eat as soon as I'm up and drink lots of water. I'm absolutly knackered and being a Police Officer, my job is so tiring. I am now off the streets and in an office, however working shifts is still taking its toll. This is my first baby and not only am I nervous, I'm very excited. I am now retaining loads of water and finding it hard to do up my work trousers.
